Question 1

How does GumGauge compare with a manual perio probe?

Accepted Answer

GumGauge is being designed around bite-held, full-arch capture followed by clinician review, rather than point-by-point manual probing. About one minute is the session-time target. Site coverage, accuracy, repeatability, and actual timing still require engineering verification and clinical validation.

Question 2

At what point in the hygiene visit should the reading happen?

Accepted Answer

The proposed workflow places capture near the start of a chairside visit so a clinician can review the planned output later in the appointment. The final operating procedure remains pending human-factors, clinical, and regulatory review.

Question 3

Does it work for patients with crowns or implants?

Accepted Answer

Compatibility with crowns, implants, and other restorations has not yet been established. It must be addressed through design verification, clinical validation, and final labeling.

Question 4

Is GumGauge for diagnosis or care delivery?

Accepted Answer

GumGauge is being developed for chairside periodontal measurement and documentation, not autonomous diagnosis or treatment. Clinical decisions remain with the treating clinician, and final intended use is still under review.

Question 5

Which practice management systems will GumGauge support?

Accepted Answer

No launch vendor list is committed. Console-side PMS and export pathways are under development; specific vendors, APIs, record fields, availability, and timing will be confirmed only after technical and compliance review.

Question 6

Who operates the chairside system?

Accepted Answer

The planned system is clinician operated, with capture triggered from the console or a foot pedal rather than the mouthpiece. Final roles and operating steps still require human-factors and clinical validation.

Question 7

Where will the data be stored?

Accepted Answer

The final storage, retention, ownership, export, and PMS write-back architecture has not been committed. It will be finalized with integration, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.

Question 8

Is GumGauge available to order today?

Accepted Answer

No. GumGauge is not available to order or use clinically. Practices can register for product-development updates; registration does not reserve access, pricing, or eligibility.

Question 9

What is GumGauge's regulatory status?

Accepted Answer

GumGauge is not cleared or approved by the FDA. No hardware or clinical performance data exists, no Pre-Submission has been filed, and final classification, predicate, and pathway have not been determined.

Question 10

What might GumGauge cost if it is developed?

Accepted Answer

Final pricing has not been set. The pricing page shares preliminary planning ranges, not offers. Purchase, subscription, and support terms would be published separately before any authorized commercial launch.

Question 11

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Explore the public sample-data software demo or request a walkthrough of the planned workflow. No working device or live PMS connection is demonstrated, and there is no active clinical-access or onboarding program.
